July 7th-10th 2015 | UdK’s MA students Verena Michels (Fashion Design) + Vlasta Kubusova (Product Design) present their collaborative MA project CRAFTING PLASTICS! during fashion Week S/S 2016. NJAL presented 10 Berlin-based designers, amongst them naturally UdK graduate Mads Dinesen, for an electric display of innovative installations and fashion films, as well as educational talks, symposiums and panel discussions interrogating fashion and contemporary culture at large.

Make no mistake, wearable tech is ready to break free from the genre of ugly that’s held it captive for far too long. More recently, there’s been a holistic morphing of technology and aesthetics to catalyze the potential of wearable tech innovation and drive real social change. NJAL leads an illustrious panel to investigate how technology can advance sustainability in fashion while also closing the gender gap in the engineering sector.

CRAFTING PLASTICS! WORKSHOP

CRAFTING PLASTICS! (CP!) is a label for craft, technology, natural textiles, bio plastics. Verena Michels and Vlasta Kubušovà research, experiment, shape, produce, surprise, cooperate, interact and pleasure. Join CP! for a special interactive workshop to address relentless contemporary consumption by merging leftover scraps of the duo’s own materials (wool + bio plastic) and create a collaborative textile of fragments. Participants will cut, compose, melt and even learn how to melt frames for glasses in an portable oven!
