VKey
Oft gibt es Probleme einen Schlüssel zu greifen, sei es bei Menschen mit motorischen Schwierigkeiten, Kindern oder wenn wir mit Handschuhen im dunklen Treppenhaus stehen. Wie kann man dem entgegen wirken?
Ein Projekt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem inklusiven Wohnprojekt Haus Birkenhain, in dem Menschen mit einer geistigen Behinderung und psychischer Erkrankung zu einem selbstbestimmten Leben gefördert werden. Dem Prozess zum Finalen Schlüsselgriff ‚Vkey‘ ging eine intensive Formstudie voraus, mit dem Schwerpunkt besonders auf Greifart, Größe und Handhabung. Die Griffe wurden von Frau G. und Herrn P. im Haus Birkenhain in verschiedenen Sitzungen getestet und entsprechend abgewandelt und verfeinert. Neben der Form haben wir uns auch mit verschiedenen Mechanismen beschäftigt, wie dem Schiebemechanismus des Kuttermessers und dem Klappmechanismus des Autoschlüssels, welche das Verstauen des Schlüsselgriffes erleichtern sollen.
Nicht nur das Greifen ist wichtig, sondern auch die Schlüsselaufnahme. Damit möglichst viele unterschiedliche Schlüsselköpfe in die gleiche Fassung passen, haben wir eine Federkonstruktion gestaltet. Aus dem Projekt sind besonders drei Schlüsselgriffe entstanden mit einem doppelten Schiebemechanismus (zwei Schlüssel), mit einer Haustür-Schlüsselaufnahme (mit Federkonstruktion) und mit einer Spind-Schlüsselaufnahme (mit Federkonstruktion).
Using a key might be challenging for people with motor difficulties, children or in some situations like, for example, fetching them with gloves in a dark staircase. What can be done about it?
This project was developed in cooperation with the inclusivity housing project „Haus Birkenhain“, where people with intellectual disabilities and mental illness have support to achieve a self-determined life. The process to the final Keyholder „Vkey“ was preceded by an intensive study of forms, with a focus on grip, size and handling. The handles were tested by Mrs. G. and Mr. P. in the house Birkenhain during different meetings. It was then modified accordingly and refined. In addition to the form, we have also dealt with various mechanisms, such as the sliding mechanism of the cutter knife and the folding mechanism of the car key, which should facilitate the stowage of the key handle.
Not only the gripping is important, but also the key holder. We designed a spring construction, so that as many different key heads fit in the same socket. The outcome of this project is three key grips with a double sliding mechanism (two keys), a front door key holder (with spring construction) and a locker key holder (with spring construction).
