Our lives are also often filled with repetitive and meaningless actions. The story of Sisyphus sounds like a symbolization the continuity of time. The clock hands go round and round, and Sisyphus‘s rock repeats its cycle. His punishment seems like a visualization of the numerous effort. He sets a goal of placing the rock on the summit, even though he knows it will roll back down. He continues to roll the rock, driven by the goal of reaching the top. Despite knowing it will fall again, he keeps rolling it up. Our lives resemble Sisyphus‘s punishment in many ways. The work „In eternity“ portrays greed, effort, and the repetition of life. It also explores where things went wrong and how they endlessly repeat. The white mountain represents fate, the sphere symbolizes greed, and the malfunctioning machine next to it represents repetitive actions.
