Weaving Poster – Noga Kassif

This project transforms discarded polyester advertising banners into woven textiles visualizing women’s parliamentary representation worldwide. Non-recyclable promotional materials gain new life through ancient feminine craft, exploring the intersection of advertising culture and weaving traditions. Using custom software, I convert global parliamentary data into weaving patterns and laser-cutting templates. The textiles encode each country’s percentage of women in parliament through color and pattern, creating beautiful fabrics whose data remains hidden without a legend. This invisible information system reflects women’s power – their ability to create beauty in homes and communities through skilled hands, despite inequality in high-level representation. The project celebrates quiet feminine strength while questioning contemporary gender dynamics.
