Milk. Tea. Bread. For a long time, food was transported in containers that were circulated: jugs, bowls, bags—reusable items were part of everyday life. It was the plastics industry that made disposable the norm and taught people to throw things away. DÉJÀ VU reminds us of what has been lost: three containers – made of plastic – show what archetypal forms can look like in a deposit system. The material enables what used to be more complicated: durable, lightweight, and hygienic packaging. What might a future look like in which we have learned to keep things again?
Milch. Tee. Brot. Lange Zeit wurden Lebensmittel in Gefäßen transportiert, die zirkulierten: Kannen, Schalen, Beutel – Mehrweg war Alltag. Erst die Kunststoffindustrie machte Einweg zur Norm und brachte den Menschen bei, Dinge wegzuwerfen. DÉJÀ VU erinnert daran, was verloren ging: Drei Gefäße – aus Kunststoff gefertigt – zeigen, wie archetypische Formen in einem Pfandsystem aussehen können. Das Material macht möglich, was früher komplizierter war: langlebige, leichte und hygienische Verpackung. Wie könnte eine Zukunft aussehen, in der wir wieder gelernt haben, Dinge zu behalten?
