OOEI
OOEI funktioniert als Reservebunker für Pflanzensamen.
Es schützt sie bei einem Waldbrand vor Feuer und Hitze, um später die verbrannte Fläche wieder zu bevölkern.
Bei langanhaltender Dürre und Trockenheit werden die Kapseln im Wald platziert. Kommt es dann zu einem Brand, wird sich mit dem Löschwasser eine Kanalstruktur im Material der Schale auflösen. Wasser und Nährstoffe gelangen so ins Innere und beim Abkühlen nach dem Brand zerbricht die Kapsel, um neues Leben schlüpfen zu lassen.

Die Keramik reagiert im richtigen Moment auf die Temperaturverhältnisse und das Objekt zeigt sich funktionierend in seiner eigenen Zerstörung.
Der Entwurf ist ein Neuentwurf für den menschlichen Umgang und die Wertung von Zerstörung und Katastrophe.
Er versucht die Ausgeglichenheit der Natur und ihren Umgang mit Waldbränden auf die menschliche Wahrnehmung zu übertragen.
Das Design soll als Symbol für die Unvermeidbarkeit der Zerstörung und ebenso für die Hoffnung danach funktionieren.
Seine Bedeutung soll also ebenso, wie die Assoziationen, die es auslöst ambivalent sein.
Das OOEI steht für drohende Gefahr und für schlummerndes Leben;
Sein Anblick im Wald löst Assoziationen von Märchen, Urzeit, sowie futuristischen Szenarien aus; der Anblick scheint vertraut und befremdlich; mahnend und tröstend zugleich.
OOEI functions as a reserve bunker for plant seeds.
It protects them from fire and heat in case of a forest fire, in order to later repopulate the burnt area.
In case of long lasting drought and dryness the capsules are placed in the forest.
If a fire then breaks out, the firefighter water will dissolve a channel structure in the material of the shell.
Water and nutrients will get into the interior and when cooling down after the fire the capsule will break to let the new life hatch.
The intelligence of the object lies in its material.
The ceramic reacts to the temperature conditions at a precise moment.
The object is functioning in its own destruction.
The design is a redesign for human perception and judgement of destruction and catastrophe.
It tries to transfer the balance of nature and its handling of forest fires as part of the lifecycle to the human perception.
The design should function as a symbol for the inevitability of destruction and also for the hope afterwards.
Its meaning should be as ambivalent, as the associations it triggers.
The OOEI stands for threatening danger and for a dormant life;
As a picture in the forest it triggers associations of fairy tales, primeval times, as well as futuristic scenarios; the scene seems familiar and strange; admonishing and consoling at the same time.
