POST PROTOCOL – BREAKFAST CLUB

The Post Protocol colloquium and the accompanying public lecture series Juxtapositions promote an open dialogue between diverse worlds of knowledge and experience in contemporary cultural production and pilot new formats for transdisciplinary discourse beyond standard protocol at the University of Arts Berlin.

The colloquium directed by Visiting Professor Lukas Feireiss is open to all graduate students of the University of Arts and offers a space for in- tense reflection, debate and experimentation in a cooperative co-learning environment. Its is a discursive platform, think tank, workshop and critical knowledge generator that encourages its participants to celebrate experimental forms of cultural production and deliberately question conventional notions of disciplinary coherence. It is about challenging fixed binaries that stabilize meaning and representation; keeping meaning open-ended and in a perpetual state of becoming; finding ambiguities, contradictions and disruptions in accepted ideas; acknowledging a plurality of possible readings and unexpected associations; welcoming and analyzing semiotic collisions.

Post Protocol is an initiative of the university leadership and organized by the Studium Generale. The colloquium aims in particular at advanced students who combine perspectives and methodologies from different disciplines in their current artistic or design practice (master‘s project or similar).

Lukas Feireiss works as curator, author and educator in the international mediation of contemporary cultural reflexivity beyond disciplinary boundaries. He attained his graduate education in Comparative Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethnology in Berlin and Rome. Feireiss is author and editor of numerous books, and curator of manifold exhibitions in the field of art, architecture and design in theory and practice. He has lectured and taught at various universities worldwide. At the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam he developed and directed the temporary Master of Fine Arts and Design program Radical Cut-Up, that examined the cut-up and collage as a contemporary mode of creativity and dominant global model of cultural production today.
