Warp to Wear is a seminar in which you will explore advanced textile manufacturing techniques enabling you to design with sustainability in mind.
The seminar is part of a collaboration with the Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University, and brings together students from various textile engineering, fashion, and product design study programmes across Europe.
We will start with an introduction and a visit to ITA in Aachen. During the semester you will work in interdisciplinary groups on a design project. You will have access to ITA’s machine park and prototyping facilities to produce a small-scale prototype.
Throughout the semester, there will be dedicated sessions to present your work and receive feedback from your peers and design and engineering academics from different universities. The seminar concludes with an Innovation Workshop with invited industry partners, giving you the opportunity to present your work and receive feedback from professionals across different sectors.
Two study trips to Aachen are planned. The first will take place 20–22 October 2025, the dates for the second are to be confirmed. Costs for the trips are covered.
The seminar is aimed towards students who are interested in advanced textiles, sustainability and interdisciplinary collaboration.
