Julia Resch studied Technology Management at the University of Stuttgart, completing both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees there. Early on, she discovered her passion for materials, particularly plastics. Her Bachelor’s thesis focused on material development, and she deepened this topic further in her Master’s thesis at the Institut für Kunststofftechnik (IKT).
Since 2018, she has been working as a research associate at the IKT. Her work focuses on sustainable materials, bioplastics, and the circular economy. Her research projects lie at the intersection of fundamental science and industrial application – in collaboration with partners such as Bosch, Vorwerk, and BASF. She regularly presents her findings at international conferences in Europe, Africa, and the United States.
In July 2024, she took over as Group Leader of Materials Engineering as well as the Testing Laboratory and Technology Transfer. In parallel, she teaches as a lecturer with a special focus on the interface between plastics technology and design – aiming to make sustainable material innovations both understandable and tangible.
