About the project:
My semester project is a café set consisting of two cups, three plates and a coffee pot. The three main aspects of my design are:
firstly, the plates can be placed vertically in a row and secondly, all the components have the shape of a square and can hence be stacked easily. which is constituting the main goal of my design, because unlike conventional round kitchen utensils, these are able to fill all the corners of a cabinet, ensuring a more efficient use of space. Thirdly, due to the precisely matched dimensions, the plates, cups and
pot form together a perfect cube, therefore I named the set “Qube”, which alludes to the English word “Cube” .
Besides, I chose porcelain as the material. On the one hand, of course, because of its harmlessness regarding the handling of food, especially hot water, and on the other hand because it is a material that gives you a feeling of good quality when eating your cake.
Über das Projekt:
Mein Semesterprojekt ist eine Caféset, bestehend aus zwei Tassen, drei Tellern und einer Kaffeekanne. Wobei die drei Hauptaspekte meines Designs darin bestehen, dass erstens, die Teller vertikal in einer Reihe aufgestellt werden können und zweitens alle Bestandteile die Form eines Quadrats haben und somit problemlos stapelbar sind. Was das Hauptziel meines Designs darstellt, denn anders als herkömmliches rundes Küchengeschirr, ist dieses in der Lage alle Ecken eines Schrankes zu füllen und sorgt demzufolge im Wesentlichen für einen effiziententeren Platzverbrauch. Darüberhinaus fügen sich durch die genau abgestimmten Maße, die Teller, Tassen und Kanne zu einem perfekten Würfel zusammen. Daher resultiert auch der Name “Qube”, welcher auf das englische Wort Cube, zu deutsch:”Würfel” anspielt.
Als Material wählte ich Porzellan. Zum einen natürlich wegen seiner Unbedenklichkeit bezüglich des Umgangs mit Lebensmitteln, insbesondere heißem Wasser und zum anderen, weil es ein Material ist welches einem beim Verzehr seines Kuchens ein Gefühl von guter Qualität verschafft.
