Typically, when prototyping, you have to figure out how to make a model perform like a ‘real’ object. In this course, we’re going to flip that idea and let our prototypes become the ‘real’ objects.
Substance Cafe will be a prototype cafe made from prototype objects. Making our cafe will be split into three small projects dealing with materials, mechanics and interactions, producing a part of the cafe along the way. The projects will be workshop based with an emphasis on prototyping and materials, but the interaction project will focus on electronics and digital prototyping.
We will open up the cafe at different stages along the way to put our ideas to the test and learn how to evaluate our prototypes, and most importantly have a good time in the process.
