biografie:
Julia Kunz ist Diplom Textildesignerin und hat an der ISU (USA) und an der „HFBK Hamburg“ studiert. Nach ihrem Studium absolvierte sie 1992 eine Textilsiebdruckausbildung an „The Fabric Workshop and Museum“ in Philadelphia und gründete ihre eigene Firma für Textildesign und Handsiebdruck in Hamburg.
Sie arbeitete als Designerin u.a. für „D. Swarovski & Co.“ in Wattens/ Tirol im Team Crystal Fashion Components. 2012 hat Julia am BZHL das „Berliner Zertifikat für Hochschullehre“ erworben, seit 2013 leitet sie die Textilsiebdruckwerkstatt am IBT. Sie lehrt Textiltechnologie im Bereich textile Oberflächenbearbeitung, Textilsiebdruck und Färben und betreut BA und MA Studierende in ihren Projekten und Abschlußarbeiten.
Als einer ihrer Schwerpunkte hat sich das Färben mit Pflanzen entwickelt, hierfür baut sie, gemeinsam mit Studierenden, Färberpflanzen im Hof des Gebäudes im Projekt Hofgrün an.
Julia Kunz holds a diploma in textile design, she studied at ISU (USA) and at „University of Fine Arts Hamburg“. After completing her degree, she went through a textile silkscreenprinting training at „The Fabric Workshop and Museum“ in Philadelphia and opened her own design and textile printing business in in Hamburg.
Amongst others, she worked as a designer for „D. Swarovski & Co.“ in Wattens/ Tirol as part of the Team Crystal Fashion Components. In 2012 Julia completed the “Berlin Teaching Certificate“ at BZHL, since 2013 she runs the texile printworkshop. She is a lecturer for textile technologies as textile surface treatment, sikscreenprinting and dyeing, she is supervising BA and MA students in their projects and graduation.
Dyeing with natural dyesources has become a strong focus, within the project Hofgrün, together with students, she grows dyeplants in the yard of the building.
