Vita
Johannes Seibel is a strategist, creative, and entrepreneur with a rich background in advertising, academia, and the startup scene.
In 2017 he joined his family business Mono GmbH and has been instrumental in transforming the cutlery and design manufactory by refining its brand identity, expanding its product portfolio, and establishing direct digital sales channels. Today he is managing the family business together with his brother Matthias Seibel in the 6th generation and is working as creative director for their two brands Mono and Pott.
In addition to his work at Mono, Johannes designs and facilitates Design Thinking workshops. After completing his studies at the HPI School of Design Thinking, he taught at the University of St. Gallen and became a coach at the Haufe Academy. His experience in leading design processes and facilitating collaborative work is one of his core skills.
After a decade of professional development, he was drawn back to university in search of new challenges and inspiration. From 2022 to 2023, he completed a one-year design master’s degree with a focus on luxury goods and craftsmanship at ECAL in Lausanne.
In 2023, Johannes also launched the Mono Residency in collaboration with the German Design Graduates Initiative. On the occasion of 40 years of Mono Tee, 10 young designers were invited to develop unique sculptural pieces in dialog with the design classic. The grand finale was the 4T Exhibition, an event at the Lobe Block in Berlin. Mono was then invited to show the exhibition again as part of Vienna Design Week.
