Anava Projects was founded by Anna Carnick and Wava Carpenter. Together and individually, they have spent the last 15+ years bringing design to life for international audiences. From exhibitions to events, special projects, and texts for some of today’s most respected creative outlets, the pair is dedicated to nurturing the global design community.
American-born, Berlin-based Anna Carnick has edited over twenty books on art and design and has worked as an editor for the Aperture Foundation, Assouline, Graphis, and Pamono. She is the author of Nendo: 10/10 (Gestalten) and Design Voices. As of 2019, she also writes a monthly column called “The Gallerist” for Icon Design Magazine. She has curated and produced a number of design-focused presentations and events.
Since graduating with an MA in Design History from Parsons & Cooper-Hewitt in 2006, Miami-based Wava Carpenter has built an international reputation for curating design-focused cultural and commercial exhibitions, writing scholarly and popular texts, producing lectures and events, jurying and overseeing awards, and creating online and IRL platforms—all to uplift the global design community. She is the Curatorial & Editorial Founder of Pamono and an ongoing curatorial advisor for Design Miami. „I’m interested in creating elements for everyday life that are exciting and uplifting to live with”
In 2019 AD Magazin Germany included Anna and Wava in their list of 200 worldwide designinfluencers. Anna and Wava are involved as visiting tutors in the Talking Shop project of Design & Social Context that runs during the Summer Semester of 2020.

As an introduction, Wava and Anna will speak about their experiences with the design websites L’Arcobaleno and Pamono, focusing on editorial, curatorial, and brand building strategies at each company. They’ll share insight into online design sales as well as the importance of editorial. They will also explain their new initiative, Anava Projects, and its mission to support „design for good.“
