Anna Maria Argmann presents at Talente in München!

Anna Maria Argmann is selected for TALENTE in München.
TALENTE München – Masters of the Future, is the annual fair where young craftsmen and designers in different areas of the crafts are presented at the Internationale Handwerksmesse.
Anna Maria was selected with one of the projects of her graduation project titled ‚Discover the Cover‘, where she tried to provide a new perspective on electronic waste and change attitudes towards defective devices.

The international TALENTE event  takes place from 12-16 March. The TALENTE Award will be presented by an international jury on Saturday, 15h March 2025 on the stage in Hall B1 , read more

 

 

 

Emma Johann presents in Talents section at Ambiente Frankfurt!

Emma Johann has her own booth at the Talents show of Ambiente at the Frankfurt Fair.
She was selected with her project Altglas where she used scrap material as mould for glasses and a carafe.
She developed het project in summer semester 2024 in Meisenthal France as part of the glassproject CONTAIN.

This year Ambiente selected 28 young designer from all over the world and supported them with a free stand at one of the biggest consumer fairs in the world from  7-11 February , read more

 

Niklas Rechfelden interviewed on Leuchte 47 for Tocco

Niklas Rechfelden showt his formflies light ‚Leuchte 47‘ at Dutch Design Week 2024 and was interviewed about it for TOCCO EARTH.

Esmée Willemsen wins 1st prize Diploma section Designblok 2023 Prague!

Esmée Willems won the 1st Prize in the Diploma section of the annual Designblok competition for young graduates.
Esmée wowed the jury with a fantastic presentation and a very convincing story about motivations for her project: Agency for Unseen Sights. Agency of Unseen Sights was born and it’s purpose is to research how places are being treated when they are marked with objects that indicate that there is something to be seen and raises questions about tourism and common places around your corner that could be a scenic view as well.

Honorable Mentions for Cathy & Emma

Cathy Wolter & Emma Johann both received an Honorable Mention in the Cumulus Green Awards 2022, a bi-annual student design 
competition.
This years competition focussed on Nurturing Our Planet​ and called out for Projects that illustrate how artifacts (products, communications, interactions, etc.) can embody responsible production and consumption and circular economy principles.

Ein-und-zwanzig: Marie & Matthias in Milan!

The 21 winners of the international young talent competition ein&zwanzig have been chosen.

The range of her work extends from flexible systems, seating and office furniture to multifunctional objects, lights, everyday objects and textile design, and…… Marie Radke and Matthias Gschwendtner are part of the selection with their graduation projects!

The 21 winners will be presented from June 6th to 12th, 2022 at the 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile at Officina 3, Via Tortona 31 in Milan. The coveted „Best of Best“ award will be presented on June 6, 2022. This year, the design of the exhibition is being realized by the Parisian design studio N O C O D. The winners of last year’s young talent competition will also be present

Die 21 Winner des international ausgerichteten Nachwuchswettbewerbs ein&zwanzig stehen fest.

Die Bandbreite ihrer Arbeiten erstreckt sich von flexiblen Systemen, Sitz- und Büro-Möbeln über multifunktionale Objekte bis hin zu Leuchten, Alltagsgegenständen und textilem Design, und…. Marie Radke und Matthias Gschwendtner sind dabei mit ihre Abschlussarbeiten!.

Pellta gewinnt 32.000 EUR beim Wettbewerb des BMWK

Das Projekt Pellta gründet auf der Abschlussarbeit von Dominik Annies im Studiengang Design der Universität der Künste Berlin. Das Team Dominik Annies, Philipp Hainke (UdK Alumni) und Peter Glas haben daraus mit großem Engagement ein Startup entwickelt. Nach einer erfolgreichen EXIST-Förderung konnte das Team nun in einem weiteren wichtigen Wettbewerb überzeugen: Aus rund 200 Einreichungen gewann Pellta als eines von sechs Projekten den Gründungswettbewerb Digitale Innovation des Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK) in Höhe von 32.000 Euro. Der Preis finanziert die Gründung einer GmbH und sichert somit eine stabile Basis für eine Existenzgründung.

Über Pellta

Die Nutzung von Smartphones ist aus der aktuellen Arbeitswelt und dem Privatleben kaum noch wegzudenken. Leider stellen die fast rund um die Uhr begleitenden Geräte ein Risiko für sensible Daten dar. Welche Programme dabei auf die Mikrofone der Telefone zugreifen, ist für die Nutzer*innen nur schwer nachzuvollziehen. Das Team von Pellta hat eine technische Aufbewahrung entwickelt, die alle Telefone in seinem Inneren aktiv davor schützt abgehört zu werden, ohne dass diese vom Mobilfunknetz getrennt werden. Die Smartphones bleiben in Griffweite und werden bei Anrufen gehört. Entstanden ist eine kompakte, auf das Wesentliche reduzierte Box, die auf dem Tisch positioniert wird und einfach ohne jegliche Software bzw. Updates mit allen gängigen Smartphones in den Arbeitsalltag integriert werden kann.

8 November: Kimia Amir Moazami & Tobi Trübenbacher selected for Global Grad Show 2021

Global Grad Show is a programme for graduates in universities across the world whose research and ideas offer solutions to help solve major social and environmental issues. It brings together graduates and professors from over 70 countries and 600 universities who are working on solutions for a better world. From the world’s most prominent academic institutions to local colleges in developing markets, in fields ranging from biomedical engineering to urban design and data sciences.

The 2021 selection of international projects is unveiled online on 8 November, featuring innovative solutions to some of the greatest and often unappreciated challenges of our times. Kimia Amir Moazami and Tobi Trübenbacher are selected with their graduate projects Vorkoster and Papilio.
Vorkoster is selected in the section ‚Future of Food‘.
Papilio is selected in the section ‚Design against Waste‘.
In addition, MENA Grad Show will display social impact projects developed by academic talent from the region, at a physical exhibition held as part of Dubai Design Week.

Kimia & Kim Selected for Antenna at DDW 2021

Nessi by Kim Kühl and Vorkoster by Kimia Amir Moazami are selected for Antenna 2021 at DDW Eindhoven

Antenna is a platform for young, international design talent, initiated by Design Indaba and Dutch Design Week. They aim ‚to pick the very best of a next generation that will have a positive impact on the world with new insights, clear ideals and strong ambition. No superficial products or big names, but people searching for answers to global challenges. Antenna gives them a voice and the chance to change the world.‘

Annually Antenna presents young students or recent graduates (past 2 years), under 35 years of age, ranging from first-year all the way to PhD level, who are creating design work that has the potential to change the world for the better.
At Dutch Design week projects are presented that show a high level of quality of work (innovation, function & use, sustainability & life cycle). The projects address one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as an overall aspect.
Antenna is interested in the process and the thinking behind the product or service, its environmental and social impact, its current feasibility and implementation, and its potential for future development.
Selected candidates are invited to Holland for a matchmaking and networking program and supported in short talks to targeted audiences.

This year 8 students and their projects were selected from international design  schools. Among them: Kimia Amir Moazami and Kim Kuhl from UdK.

• Kimia is selected with her graduation project Vorkoster a device that informs you about the quality of your food that you can use over and over again. Kimia developed Vorkoster by working closely together with researchers from the Fraunhofer Institut.
Kimia is invited to Dutch Design Week 2021 and will speak for a selected audience at the Ambassadors‘ dinner.

• Kim Kuhl is selected with Nessi a project that deals with draught and trees in urban environment. Nessi was developed in the Find a Fact & Act project of Prof. Ineke Hans

Christine, Tobias, Agnes, Moriel selected for German Design Graduates exhibition 2021

German Design Graduates is set up to offer visibility and networks to Graduates that come out of German
Design Education, via an annual museum exhibition, an award gala and network event. Next to it there are events and exhibitions during the year
In 2021 a total 177 graduates of 15 Design Schools send in their work that is visible on the GDG platform, an online database with all graduates the so called HALL OF FAME.
GDG is supported by a wide range of organisations from the professional design field: the ambassadors

For the annual exhibition at least 3 projects of all participating schools are picked by a Jury of 5 GDG ambassadors from the fields of Design Culture, Design Praxis, Design Presentations, Design Perspectives, Design Press

Speakers

Barbro Scholz

Barbro Scholz is a designer (BA, MFA) and research assistant in textile design (Textile Printing and Finishing Laboratory) at HAW Hamburg, conducting research with a focus on electronic textiles and interaction. She is interested in the influence of design on society, especially textiles as user interfaces for technical or stand-alone devices.

Barbro is currently investigating the possibilities of using light as material on the body. Her work addresses light as an extension of the body, as opposed to textile material being separated from the immateriality of light and code. Another aspect of her exploration is the social impacts of worn light.

Sandra De Berduccy

Sandra De Berduccy, known as aruma, is a new media artist, weaver and independent researcher from Bolivia. Aruma works with textile as technology, exploring the relationship nature, processes of traditional Andean weaving, and the languages of new media and electronics. She has carried out research on traditional textile techniques of the American continent, especially of Andean and pre-Columbian textiles, for nearly two decades. This work has lead her to understand the Andean loom as a thinking machine, with a logic that offers a very wide range of possibilities, a model of flexible order to which we are able to treat as collective memory. In each of Aruma’s works, woven in Andean looms including various contemporary technologies, she proposes a form of continuity of the millennial textile culture that is currently developing in Andean lands, of which she considers herself a part.

Alex Börner

Alex Börner is a fashion and costume designer and educator, who is interested in connecting body, movement, light & video projection in fashion contexts. Her work deals in particular with cross-overs of analogue and digital tools and forms of expression.

Alex works as an artistic assistant at the Institute of Experimental Fashion and Textile Design at Berlin University of the Arts. After completing her training as a tailor for womenswear, Alexandra Börner studied fashion design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle. After finishing her master in 2017, she founded Super Health Studios. Since then she has been involved in numerous collaborations with artists, fashion designers and dancers.

Sara Robertson, Sarah Taylor

Sara Robertson leads the specialism Soft Systems: Smart Surfaces, Structures and Digital Assemblies within the MA Textiles programme at Royal College of Art. Prior to joining the RCA Sara was Programme Director for Textiles and Lecturer in Craft Innovation and Smart Materials at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee. She completed her PhD at Heriot Watt University’s, School of Textiles and Design in 2011, on the design and application of smart materials for textiles.

Sarah Taylor works as a senior research fellow at Edinburgh Napier University, and is a design practitioner and researcher with expertise in the area of smart, light-emitting textiles. Since her pioneering research investigating the properties of fibre optics for application within woven textile structures (1995) she has continued to innovate through the use of optical fibre, digital technologies and textile practice.

(ISD e.V.), mit Prof. Dr. Anna Greve, Direktorin des Focke-Museums. Bremer Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte, Honorarprofessorin der Universität Bremen, Autorin von “Farbe – Macht – Körper: Kritische Weißseinsforschung in der europäischen Kunstgeschichte (2013)”.

Ramyah Gowrishankar defended her doctoral thesis on electrostatic textiles as part of the European Training Network ArcInTex

Ramyah Gowrishankar defended her doctoral thesis titled “Engaging with e-static textiles: An investigation into textile interaction design for shaping body-driven energy harvesting in the interior.” on 10 Nov 2020 at the UdK.

Her thesis was part of the ArcInTex ETN (Architecture, Interaction Design and Textiles European Training Network) research project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions. The ArcInTex ETN project aimed to strengthen the foundations of design for more sustainable forms of future living by connecting Architecture, Interaction Design and Textiles in a training network of early-stage researchers. The project consortium consisted of 6 universities and 5 companies from around Europe who hosted 15 PhD students. Ramyah was located at the Design Research Lab at the University of the Arts in Berlin.

Ramyah’s doctoral thesis deals with electrostatic (or e-static) energy harvesting in textiles at the scale of the interior and investigates the implications of actively engaging the human body in electricity generation through an interaction design inquiry. Through the process of making, discovering and experimenting with the electrostatic harvesting circuit, the thesis develops a textile-specific methodology for designing interactions with e-textiles and presents examples of constructing e-static textiles and setups using easily-accessible materials. Furthermore, it argues for considering temporal scaling of interactions relevant for energy harvesting as an inquiry into the sustainability of interactions. One of the key results that support further research in this area is the ‘e-static textiles prototyping board’ and workshop kit. The e-static textiles prototyping board is a PCB that can be easily connected to high voltage inputs and sewed on textiles to safely design and prototype interactions with static electricity.

The thesis would soon be available to view and download on the UdK’s online publishing archive.

Anna Koppmann wins first prize Hessischer Staatspreis Universelles Design 2020!

The Hessischer Staatspreis Universelles Design is aimed at companies, agencies, architects, designers and institutions that make a special contribution to universal design andhighlights the societal significance.

The prize is awarded every two years by the Hessian Ministry of Finance and the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration.
This Year Anna Koppmann wis the first prize with First Aid Gloves.

Dennis from Universität der Künste Berlin finds the air quality in his apartment very poor which gives him headaches. As he is restricted to being inside during the Coronavirus pandemic he designs and makes a device which reminds him to open the windows whilst he is working.

9-14 November: Esmee Willemsen & Anna Koppmann selected with Plus Minus 25º at Global Grad Show Dubai

Global Grad Show is a year-round programme for university graduates and professors who are working on solutions for a better world.
The 2020 edition will be andigital interactive exhibitionof the best-in-class graduate work from around the world, addressing social, environmental and development issues.
From 9-14 November 100 innovations will illustrate the pressing problems and associated solutions proposed by graduates in the fields of science, design and technology.
Since Anna and Esmee have not even graduated yet it is an honour that they are selected.

Design Research on Thermal Regulating Curtains Anna & Esmeé published

During the Wintersemester of 2019/20 Anna Koppmann and Esmeé Willemsen developed Thermal Regulating Curtains: Plus Minus 25ºC.Starting point was the project Past Present – conservation for innovation. For their development they were supported by Microtek Laboratories with a phase changing Material (PCM).An interview with Anna and Esmeé and Microtek is online. You can read it here including a link to their Case Study. The much acclaimed light IGNIS is honoured with the Design Plus Award of ‚Rat für Formgebung‘ and will be exhibited in Frankfurt during light+building 2020.
55 participants with 70 submissions from 10 countries send in for the Messe Frankfurt Design Plus competition – organised by the German Design Council  and powered by Light + Building 2020. A total of 17 young talents are awarded with the label Design Plus powered by Light + Building 2020. 3 works are honoured with ‚Best of‘ and 2 with ‚Special Mention‘.

IGNIS was honoured as one of the two ‚Special Mentions‘.

Katharina Heinze Preisträgerin des European Fashion Award FASH 2019

Anna Ryzhova und Nadia Narges Rezaei gewinnen beim MATERIALICA Design Award 2018

FLEXA | MATERIALICA Design Award 2018

Nadia Narges Rezaei und Anna Rhyzova haben für ihr Additive Manufacturing Konzept »Flexa« den mit 1000 EUR dotierten MATERIALICA Design Award 2018 in der Kategorie Student gewonnen. Der Award wird auf der Messe Materialica in München für hervorragende Projekte aus dem Bereich neuer innovativer Materialien und Fertigungstechniken vergeben.

FLEXA ist ein Sport-BH der durch Körperscannverfahren und 3D Druck individuell an die Brust angepasst wird. Zwei verschiedene Strukturen ermöglichen an gewünschten stellen Flexibilität und an anderen Halt. Durch das Scanverfahren werden äußerliche Daten des Körpers erfasst. Im weiteren Verlauf wird ein individuelles Schnittmuster erstellt und dieses mit Stützstrukturen mittels 3D Technologie bedruckt. Auch in den Farben kann frei gewählt werden und etliche Farbkombinationen sind möglich. Gerade im Bereich des Leistungssports erhofft sich das Team den Sportlern mit Hilfe dieses Entwurfs noch bessere Leistungen zu ermöglichen.

Entstanden ist der Entwurf im Rahmen des Seminars »3D Pioneers Challenge« im Wintersemester 2017/18 betreut von Prof. Holger Neumann und Dipl. Des MA Steffen Herm

FASHION COLLOQIUM searching for the new luxury // Marlene Haase und Aïcha Abbadi zu Gast in Arnheim

„The ‘Fashion Colloquium: Searching for the New Luxury’ will explore new definitions of ‘luxury’ against the backdrop of urgent environmental and social issues.“, dies ist der einleitende Satz des Programms für das Fashion Colloqium: searching for the new luxury, welches am 31.05.+01.06.2018 in der ARTez in Arnheim, Niederlande abgehalten wurde.

Das Internationale Simposium vereinte in der holländischen Stadt Kreative aus verschiedenen Zweigen der Modebranche. Unter anderem auch die beiden UdK Studentinnen Marlene Haase und Aïcha Abbadi, welche dort über ihre Projekte Misfit (Haase) und Authentic fashion products! (Abbadi).

Design Studio Flaer gewinnt Design- und Research Residency am NTCRI 2019

Studio Flaer | UDK Alumni Anna Drewes und Dario Iannone

Die UDK Alumni Anna Drewes und Dario Iannone gewannen 2018 das ‚Creative Prototyping Stipendium‘ der UDK mit ihrem gemeinsamen Abschlussprojekt FRAME. Im Zuge dessen gründeten sie das Design Studio Flaer.

Nach Ende des Stipendiums, erwartet das Design Duo ein neues Projekt in Taiwan: In der Entwurfs- und Research Residency am NTCRI geht es um den Wert von traditionellem Handwerk für das zeitgenössische Design.

In Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Kunsthandwerkern werden beinahe vergessene Herstellungstechniken untersucht und mit zeitgenössischen, nachhaltigen Gestaltungsansätzen und neuen Anwendungsgebieten verknüpft. Gefördert wird das Projekt unter anderem durch das ifa Stuttgart.

MITTELMODA WINNER // ANTONIA SCHREITER

Mit Stolz dürfen wir verkünden, dass BA ’18 Absolventin Antonia Schreiter Preisträgerin beim INTERNATIONAL LAB OF MITTELMODA ist. Mit ihrer Abschlusskolletkion ‚Die a happy man‘ wurde sie am 21. Juli in Treviso, Italien in den Benetton Studios mit dem Hauptpreis für ‚Most Creative Collection‘ ausgezeichnet.

UDK Alumni Emilia Tikka als Artist in Residence am Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin

Emilia Tikkas künstlerisches Konzept setzte sich unter 40 eingereichten Konzepten aus zwölf Ländern durch. Sie wird nun alsArtist in Residenceam Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin in der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft (MDC) ihr ProjektDORIAN-GRAY-KIT– Trajectories of Rejuvenation between Self-Experiments and CRISPR-cas9umsetzen. Es ist ein poetisches Szenario darüber, wie die Technologien der Genomeditierung den menschlichen Wahn von der ewigen Jugend in Zukunft beeinflussen könnt. Es geht Tikka um die menschlichen Wünsche und Träume, die die Biotechnologie antreiben – in institutionellen Laboren bis hin zu Citizen Science.

Das konzeptionelle Ziel dieses spekulativen Szenarios ist es, die Öffentlichkeit mit einem fundamentalen Gegensatz zu konfrontieren: Verfall und Wiedergeburt kehren als molekularer Prozess in allen Lebewesen ständig wieder und gleichzeitig versuchen Menschen, technisch in diese Prozesse einzugreifen. 
Im Juli und August wird Emilia Tikka zwei Monate im CRISPR-Labor des MDC verbringen. Die Erfahrungen, die sie in der Zusammenarbeit mit dem CRISPR-Cas9-Forschungsteam sammelt, werden in ihr künstlerisches Schaffen einfließen.

Lichtuhr

Sie war schon sehr lange nicht mehr hier gewesen. Es war einer dieser Orte, die scheinbar ausschließlich dem Übergang dienten – eine Station auf dem Weg und niemals das Ziel.

Raquel erinnerte sich noch gut daran, wie sie als Kind mit den wandernden Zeigern in der großen Halle fangen gespielt hatte. Die besondere Kunst lag darin, kurz bevor sich die langen Balken zur vollen Stunde trafen, hochzuspringen und im Moment des Zusammentreffens genau auf der Stelle zu landen, wo der helle Schein für einen Augenblick verschwand. Raquel stellte sich dann vor, sie könne so die Zeit für eine Sekunde festhalten und einen Vorrat sammeln. Für jedes geglückte Manöver bekäme sie einen Zeitgutschein. So könnte sie die Zeit verlangsamen oder beschleunigen – die schönen oft flüchtigen Momente ewig dauern lassen und das ewige Warten, die nie endende Zeit, verkürzen. Sie fragte sich, wie die Welt wohl aussähe, ließe man seine eigene Zeit schneller oder langsamer laufen. Wären die unterschiedlichen Geschwindigkeiten der Menschen sichtbar oder spürbar?

Und wäre es möglich miteinander zu sprechen, wenn man nicht in der gleichen Zeitgeschwindigkeit steckte?

 

Die Installation “lichtuhr” stellt eine Beziehung zwischen Zeit und Raum her. Durch einen beleuchteten Spiegelnden Stab zeichnet sich eine Reflexion auf dem Boden ab, welche im Zusammenspiel mit dem Schatten des Objekts eine Uhr bildet. Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Einfluss von Licht auf den menschlichen Organismus stand am Anfang dieser Arbeit.Sie konstituiert einen Raum, indem Zeit sichtbar gemacht werden kann und der dadurch entstehende Rhythmus aufgegriffen wird. Die Lichtuhr kann als Weiterentwicklung einer Sonnenuhr gedacht werden. Hierbei wirft ein spiegelnder Stab gleichzeitig einen Schatten und eine Reflexion auf den Boden, so dass zwei Zeiger entstehen, die sich in unterschiedlichen Geschwindigkeiten bewegen. Die Bewegung des Schattens ist einzig von der Position der Lichtquelle abhängig, wohingegen die Reflexion auch in Relation zu dem Winkel der spiegelnden Oberfläche zur Lichtquelle steht. Während die Konstruktion von einem Motor angetrieben wird, funktioniert die zeitliche Übersetzung von Minuten- und Sekundenzeiger über Zahnräder. Damit Lichtquelle und Stab sich unabhängig von einander bewegen, sie aber trotzdem um die selbe Achse kreisen können, sind Kugellager eingebaut.

Auf den Feldern herrscht Stille. Ein fahles Flimmern durchdringt in der Ferne kaum merklich die Dunkelheit. Es ist voller Bewegung – und doch scheint es tief in sich zu ruhen.

Ein Tropfen im Wasser durchbricht die Stille – etwas regt sich. Leise, Eines nach dem Anderen, erheben sich schemenhafte, kleine Lichter auf dem Feld und was eben noch so versunken vor sich hinschlummerte, baut sich langsam zu einem geschäftigen Schauspiel. Unzählige kleiner funkelnder Wesen bevölkern mit einem Male die Landschaft und mit jedem von ihnen, das so aus seinem Schlaf erwacht, weicht die Dunkelheit ein bisschen mehr einem sanften Lichterspiel. Alles bewegt sich – rastlos und unbeirrt ziehen die Wesen sanft ihre Bahnen durch die Finsternis, so als folgten sie einem stummen Ruf.

  Sie sprechen miteinander auf ihren Wegen: Sie begrüßen sich, treffen sich, verabreden sich. Sie schließen sich zusammen und entzweien sich wieder, und obgleich ihre Gespräche für das Ohr nicht hörbar sind, so sind sie doch ungetrübt und klar verständlich. Frech huschen sie vorüber. Und ebenso, wie sie aufgetaucht waren, sind sie auch wieder verschwunden. Hier und da glitzert es noch auf – bis schließlich auch das letzte von ihnen wieder in die Schatten abtaucht. Ludwig Voigt gewinnt Gründerstipendium der UdK Berlin

Die Gründergruppe Ludwig Voigt, Sebastian Mähler und Peter Wagner sind mit dem Startup-Stipendium „Creative Prototyping“ der UdK Berlin ausgezeichnet worden. Das Stipendium umfasst eine Fördersumme von 2000 EUR pro Monat je Teammitglied über einen Zeitraum von 6 Monaten. Zudem kann die digitale und technische Infrastruktur der UdK in vollem Umfang genutzt werden. Als Mentor betreut Prof. Holger Neumann das Projekt und unterstützt das Gründerteam in allen Fragen der Produktentwicklung.
Nulight ist die visionäre Idee des UdK-Absolventen und Designers Ludwig Voigt. Die Technologie schickt sich an, den Lichtmarkt zu revolutionieren und Leuchtmittel wie Neonleuchtstoffröhren auf sehr nachhaltige Art zu ersetzen. So vereint Nulight Leuchtmittel mit Leuchtkörper und ermöglicht das erste Mal die individuelle Formung von Lichtobjekten im dreidimensionalen Raum. Das bedeutet ein radikales Neudenken von Lichtgestaltung und erhebt das Licht selbst zum Gestaltungsmittel. Mit im Team sind Kommunikationsexperte Peter Wagner und der luminophile Veranstaltungstechniker Sebastian Mähler. In den kommenden Monaten werden sie gemeinsam die nötigen Technologien entwickeln und in Prototypen umsetzen.

Mit dem Creative Prototyping Stipendium gibt die UdK Berlin ihren Alumni die Möglichkeit, technologieorientierte Projekte und Modelle in überzeugende Prototypen und Gründungsvorhaben zu transferieren. Das CREATIVE PROTOTYPING Stipendium an der UdK richtet sich an alle, die ein Projektvorhaben künstlerisch-gestalterisch, unternehmerisch und technologisch weiterentwickeln wollen. Erste Prototypen bzw. prototypische Verfahren sollten bereits vorhanden sein. Finanziert wird das Stipendium durch Mittel des Europäischen Sozialfonds (ESF) sowie des Landes Berlin.

Der UdK Absolvent Dirk Biotto ist als Finalist des German Design Award 2017 in der Kategorie Newcomer nominiert worden. Aus allen Newcomern wurden fünf Finalisten ausgewählt. Sein Entwurf „ChopChop – Easy Cooking“ ist im Wintersemester 2013/14 als Bachelorarbeit im Bereich ID1 und Technologie entstanden.

Während der Zubereitung einer Mahlzeit erscheinen uns dir dafür notwendigen Handgriffe als selbstverständlich. Da diese bei genauerer Betrachtung jedoch komplexer als angenommen sind, entstehen bei der Ausführung gerade für ältere Menschen, oder für
Menschen mit Einschränkungen Probleme. Die Küche ChopChop ist daher im Sinne des Universal Design gestaltet und orientiert sich an der Formsprache einer Werkbank. ChopChop unterstützt dabei mit integrierten Hilfsprodukten Menschen mit, wie auch ohne Einschränkungen beim Vor- und Zubereiten von Mahlzeiten.

„Dirk Biotto hat sein Studium des Industrial Design an der Universität der Künste Berlin absolviert. Sein Produktportfolio reicht von grafischen Konzepten über ein integriertes Küchenkonzept bis hin zu Notunterkünften für Obdachlose. Gemeinsam ist diesen unterschiedlichen Entwürfen das Nachdenken über die soziale Dimension von Gestaltung. Biotto spürt der Frage nach, wie man die Interaktion von Produkt und Nutzer ästhetisch wie funktional neu interpretieren kann. Dirk Biotto wurde bereits mehrfach ausgezeichnet, u.a. mit dem Lucky Strike Junior Designer Award für sein ganzheitliches Küchenkonzept ChopChop – Easy Cooking.“
